Thursday Thoughts

Ten Thoughts This Thursday

1.  I wish...school was out and summer would get here, already.

2.  I want...this beautiful weather to continue...90 degrees, heaven!

3.  I think...the women on "Real Housewives..." wear way too much make-up.

4.  I laugh...at "Ridiculousness", a show on Mtv2--what a stress relief.

5.  I appreciate...thoughtful people who go out of their way.

6.  I enjoy...working part-time vs. full-time.

7.  I struggle...with letting some things go. Breath in...breath out.

8.  I feel...fortunate for the simple (simple?) life I have.

9.  I recommend...spilling your feelings to a good fiend as a stress-relief.

10. I hope...my cat overcomes and lives another month.

It's almost that time of year again...Teacher Appreciation Week.

I am a 4th grade teacher and while it's nice to receive small tokens of thanks during that week, I appreciate a hand-written note the most.  Nothing means more than genuine words of thanks.

I did stumble across this idea over at Lil Luna though and I am thinking I'll do something very similar for my daughter's teacher.  Too cute!

Thursday Thoughts

Ok...WHAT???  It's been since March 27th since I have posted anything.  It must be spring...kids' birthdays, baseball, softball, school, work, and well, life.  It all gets in the way of my regular posting.  I have a list of things I want to do around the house, but I just don't have the time.  Until then..another Thursday Thoughts.

Ten Thoughts This Thursday
1.  I wish...I had more time (and well...money) to do projects around the house.

2.  I want...the beautiful warm spring weather to stay...because I'm just flat over cold temps.

3.  I think...buying clothes for the spring is *so* much more fun than shopping for fall/winter clothes.

4.  I laugh...at the videos my daughter makes on my iPhone (like the "how to" brush her teeth)

5.  I appreciate...the "fires" policemen put out on the city streets on a daily basis.

6.  I enjoy...watching my kids play sports--baseball, softball, and gymnastics.

7.  I struggle...with keeping up with this blog (my initial fear before starting it...)

8.  I feel...blessed to have some really great people in my life.

9.  I recommend...putting canned tuna and/or chicken in the fridge so that when you want to use it, it's
already chilled.  I can't stand tuna/chicken salad at room temperature.

10.  I hope...the money we pour into baseball one day will pay off for our son.

Spring Break Board

Next week is Spring Break...woo hoo!  I am looking forward to a week off from school, sports, and routine.  However, time off from school comes with a price.  It comes with kids that say, "I'm bored...what are we doing today?"

I had the idea to come up with a Spring Break Idea Board.  I picked up a piece of cardstock and some Post-it notes at the grocery store.  With stickers I had around the house, I made this:

I made two columns because I want my kids to have a visual of what things would cost money and what things we could do for free.

This evening at dinner we will start filling out some Post-it notes of things they'd like to do to keep busy.

Spring Wreath

Back in the fall I tried my hand at making my first wreath for the front door.  Now that it's spring I've been thinking it's time for a change.  I have been wanting something fresh and well, "springy."

I had a vision in my head and headed to Hobby Lobby.  Instead of wrapping the wreath form in yarn this time, I wanted to use moss because of the texture it would provide.

After about 20 minutes in the store, here are the products I walked out with.

Spanish Moss

Fake butterflies

Flower sprig

Silk daisies

Foam wreath

I started by laying out a sheet in the kitchen because that Spanish moss is a mess to work with.  I was going to go in the garage, but it was too cold.  Using a low-temp glue gun and special glue for foam, I went to work applying the moss to the wreath form.

Once the form was covered I began the tedious work of cutting the small pink and white buds from the stems.  Then I stuck the individual buds in and around the wreath.

After placing all of the small pink and white buds, I decided to add some daisies.  Not sure if you feel this way, but nothing says "spring" like daisies.

And the final touch was to add the fake butterflies.

Such a fresh-looking wreath.  I love it so much I almost would rather it be indoors so I could see it everyday.

Ten Thoughts This Thursday

1.  I wish...I had one more hour each day (but not at work.)

2.  I want...Michael Kors's perfume.

3.  I think...I might upgrade to an iphone!

4.  I laugh...at, but keep watching "Dance Moms" on Bravo.

5.  I appreciate...my kids' teachers.

6.  I enjoy...fresh cut flowers in a rainy, gloomy day.

7.  I just...might try bold lips this spring...fuschia lipgloss?

8.  I feel...like I have life under control...at least for now.

9.  I recommend...putting meatloaf into your meal rotation...so fulfilling and delicious!

10.  I hope...the rain doesn't cancel too many baseball games.
